Advisory Evacuations, Road Closures Due to The Long Valley Fire

An advisory evacuation has been issued for the Sutcliffe community as the Long Valley Fire continues to grow. Pyramid Highway is closed in both directions, even for residents just north of SR-446 in the Sutcliffe area. The Long Valley fire has burned more than 83,733 acres and is now 35% contained. Three homes have been damaged and five outbuildings destroyed because of the fire. The BLM, U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire are part of the response. The Reno Fire Department and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District have units on scene as well to help with structure protection. An evacuation center for Sutcliffe residents has been set up at Nixon Gym, 301 Hwy 447, in Nixon, NV.
