Bighorns To Host School Supplies Drive

Reno Bighorns – The Reno Bighorns are hosting their first annual “Stuff the Bus” school supplies drive to benefit all Washoe County students who are in need (children living in homeless situations or foster care). The drive began on July 6 and will conclude with an all-day drop off event on Saturday, July 22 at the Reno Events Center. The drive will provide new school supplies to thousands of Washoe County students throughout the school year.

The July 22 drop-off will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a Bighorns and Coffee event hosted at the Reno Events Center (400 N. Center St. Reno, NV 89501) and conclude at 2 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to drive-thru and receive coffee, bagels, Bighorns “swag” and drop-off their donations. Supporters will also have the chance to meet Bighorns Dancers and Bighorns Mascot, Bruno.

Washoe County School District has had an 89 percent increase in homelessness in the past six years. During the 2015-16 school year, the WCSD Children in Transition program identified and provided services to 3,510 children and youth from birth through 12 grade.
