Evacuation Orders Lifted For Residents Near The Preacher Fire, More Than 4,000 Acres Burned

The Preacher Fire in Douglas County is now 20% contained, according to Sierra Front, and all evacuation orders have been lifted. The updated acreage is 4,651 acres, or about seven square miles. A Tuesday morning estimate was 3,000 acres more. The county says “a mapping error glitch occurred.” The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has signed a Disaster Declaration based on the potential threat of structures and the community and FEMA has approved a “Fire Management Grant” to support firefighters with safety items, tools, and more. Close to 400 structures, mostly homes and outbuildings, have been threatened.
