The Nevada Highway Patrol has released the name of a man killed in a crash on I-580 in Carson City. The crash happened just after 9AM Friday, July 28th. The investigation indicates the driver of a Mercedes SUV was traveling south in the right lane of 580 approaching Fairview Drive, and was slowed by traffic congestion in the midst of construction. A biker on a BMW motorcycle was traveling at highway speeds, approaching the slowed traffic. Troopers say the rider of the motorcycle, 59-year-old Jonathan Proehl of Reno, may have become distracted, causing the motorcycle to hit the left rear of the SUV. Proehl was thrown from the motorcycle and killed. The driver of the SUV was treated on scene for minor injuries.
