We’re Having a Record Breaking Summer in Northern Nevada

National Weather Service officials say we’re having one of the hottest summers the region has ever seen. Service meteorologists in Reno upgraded a series of heat advisories Wednesday to an excessive heat warning stretching from northeast California through north-central Nevada through 11 o’clock tonight. The high is expected to top the century mark again today. The normal maximum high for Reno for the month of August is 90 degrees. Reno’s average daily high temperature for the month of July was 97.2 degrees — the highest in the 80 years records have been kept.
