Aggressive Coyotes Spotted in Washoe County Neighborhoods

The Nevada Department of wildlife says they’re getting more calls about aggressive coyotes in Washoe County, especially in Spanish Springs, parts of Sparks, and Hidden Valley.  Even though there’s plenty of prey in the back country, coyotes like an easy meal, if they can get it, and dog food, your compost pile, and even fruit from your trees can be an attractant for them because they’re omnivores, and will eat anything.  Make sure to remove all pet food from your yard before you go to bed. It’s also a good idea to get a motion detecting security light, which will also scare them from your property.
