(KOH) – More details are available about the stabbing and officer-involved shooting that took place Friday night at the Carson Nugget in Carson City. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says the initial investigation indicates that when the deputy contacted the suspect, a physical fight followed, and the deputy was slashed with a knife on the forehead. Investigators say the deputy drew his weapon and fired on the suspect five times. The deputy was taken to Carson Tahoe Medical Center while the suspect, who is homeless, was taken to Renown Medical Center. The deputy has been released from Carson Tahoe.

Original story—A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy was stabbed in the forehead Friday at the Carson Nugget. The incident happened just after 6pm when the deputy and two security guards noticed a man acting strangely in the loading area. The deputy and the suspect got into a scuffle and the deputy shot the suspect.  Both suffered non-life threatening injuries. Sheriff Ken Furlong has not released the name of the deputy.  The suspect has not been identified either, but he is not a Carson City resident.
