It may be a few days before the costs to protect the public during President Trump’s visit to Reno are known, but Reno City Council’s Jenny Brekhus says we can offset a lot of that cost with Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA) room tax funds.
Brekhus says “The Presidential visit is a great honor…So I’m going to encourage the Mayor and others at RSCVA to see if some of the room tax that’s generated this week can go back to back-fill the Reno Police budget for the time and energy that we’re going to have to put into staffing this event.”
Brekhus hopes that all large gatherings like this that require massive police presence will be funded similarly in the future.
