(KOH) – A Reno Charter school fielded a football team this weekend for the first time in school history.
US News & World Report ranked Coral Academy of Science in Reno as the #2 school in the state for performance and college preparation. But now they’ve started their mission to excel in another field: the football field. School officials believe that they are the first charter school in Nevada to field a football program.
The Falcons football team took the field last Saturday for the first time ever in school history, driving to Silver Springs to take on the 2A Silver Stage Nighthawks, who had won only one game in the previous 3 seasons. Their first test showed they needed to do more homework, as they came out on the short end of a 49-8 score.
Coral will be on the visitor side for all their games this season as they don’t yet have a home field. Go Falcons!
