Kayaker’s Body Recovered from Lake Tahoe

(KOH) – The Eldorado County Sheriff’s office has announced that the body of a kayaker who went missing in June has been recovered.

On June 8, Dan Pham set out on a short trip in a 10-ft kayak on the SW part of Lake Tahoe but never arrived at his destination. An extensive search effort was conducted by multiple agencies over 3 days, but Pham was not located, although K9 teams found an area of interest off Rubicon Point, near Emerald Bay.

Bruce’s Legacy, a Wisconsin non-profit group, started searching Saturday and within 10 hours had located Pham’s body in 245 feet of water off Rubicon Point, using side-scan sonar. They then recovered his body using a remotely-operated underwater vehicle. The group has also recently located UNR football player Marc Ma at Lake Tahoe and 11-year-old Markos Vasquez in Stampede Reservoir.
