People around the world will participate in International Overdose Awareness Day, to raise awareness of drug overdoses, their impact on communities, and that overdoses are preventable. In Washoe County, agencies from the Truckee Meadows will come together for the first local International Overdose Awareness Day event. Participants will gather at the “Believe” sign at Ten North Virginia in downtown Reno at 5:30pm, and then walk to Wingfield Park in a remembrance activity which will also acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends of those who have met with death or permanent injury resulting from drug overdoses.
