The Washoe County School Naming Committee decided to shortlist 10 semi-finalist names for the new elementary school planned for South Meadows. The names will be considered at the next meeting of the committee on Wednesday, October 4, at the WCSD Administration Building. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend and provide input. The 10 semi-finalists are: Bella Vista, John Bohach, Ann Jones Carlson, Michael Landsberry, Mary Leman, Nick Poulakidas, Debbie Smith, South Meadows, Steamboat Creek, and Washoe Zephyr. Committee Chairman Frank Perez says it’s truly an honor for all of us on the committee to be a part of something this meaningful, and we greatly appreciate the community’s input on this major decision.
