Last Friday officers with the Reno Police Department and UNR Police conducted a pedestrian safety campaign in downtown Reno, Mid-Town, and UNR, which resulted in 49 people being issued citations related to pedestrian safety. The citations included drivers being cited for not yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks, distracted driving, and pedestrians being cited for jaywalking. This campaign is funded by a pedestrian safety grant from the Nevada Department of Transportation Office of Traffic Safety.
