The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about another telephone scam after receiving numerous complaint calls. Investigators say the scam involves someone contacting you and claiming to work for local law enforcement. They then tell you that you have a warrant or a fine you need to pay to avoid arrest. The caller will tell you it can all be handled over the phone with payment by a credit card. No law enforcement agency asks for payment over the phone.
