Firefighter Bill Co-Sponsored by Jacky Rosen Passes The House

A bill co-sponsored by Congresswoman Jacky Rosen passed the House. This bipartisan legislation establishes a cancer registry for firefighters. The Firefighter Cancer Registry Act, requires the CDC to maintain a registry of firefighters to collect history and occupational information, that can be linked to existing data in state cancer registries. The registry must be used to improve monitoring of cancer among firefighters. Rosen says
every day, our nation’s firefighters risk their lives so they can save others. Researchers have found links to increased cancer rates among those in the line of duty.
