A Reno man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The sentencing reflects the Washoe County prosecutor sought and got habitual criminal status based on the defendant’s lengthy criminal history that spanned over twenty years and included multiple theft and forgery offenses. 42 year old Douglas Lee Reeves pleaded guilty in May to one count of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. In this case, the conviction as a habitual offender resulted in a significantly longer maximum sentence than the 1 to 5 year term for one count of possession of a stolen vehicle.
