Travelers, if you’re planning on taking state Route 4 through Alpine County later this week, you’ll need to find another way. Caltrans is closing eastbound and westbound State Route 4 Wednesday, for pavement repair work. The closure goes from closure gate #2, east of Lake Alpine, to Highland Lake Road beginning at 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. There is no local detour available, but you can get through on SR-88 and SR-108, but allow some extra travel time. Work should be wrapped up by Saturday.
