Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve was selected as Chair of the United States Conference of Mayors Standing Committee on Tourism, Arts, Parks, Entertainment, and Sports this week. Mayor Schieve will be the first woman to Chair the committee in over 25 years. The appointment was made by Conference President Mitch Landrieu, the Mayor of New Orleans. As a member of the Conference of Mayors leadership, Schieve will also participate in discussions surrounding other federal policies that impact Reno, such as immigration, health care, and federal spending in areas such as community development, law enforcement, and transportation.
