Fire crews are fighting a brush fire south of Boomtown in the hills; it appears to be burning timber and there is substantial wind in the area. The Cone Fire was reported about 11AM September 18th. There is no word yet on size or cause. Air support is on scene. Hand crews are hiking in, as it’s a very remote area. There are no structures in the area; the fire is burning just south of Fuller Lake, east of where I-80 crosses into California.
The fire is being fought by Truckee Meadows Fire and the US Forest Service.
