Governor Brian Sandoval is seeking a legal opinion into whether the state can begin enforcing a voter approved background check law for gun buyers. According to his spokesperson Mari St. Martin, the Governor is asking the Attorney Generals office if the state can operate as a “Dual Point of Contact” state, creating two systems, one for licensed gun dealers and one for private sales and transfers. Attorney General Adam Laxalt has previously refused to enforce the private sale background checks after the FBI expressed unwillingness to conduct them on behalf of Nevada.
