(KOH) – The Metropolitan Police Department in Clark County is now saying that Mandalay Bay security guard Jesus Campos was shot 6 minutes before the 1 October shooter began shooting into the crowd. The timeline is important because lawsuits filed against the hotel contend that security should have called 9-1-1 sooner. Mandalay Bay has said that shots were fired into the crowd no later than 40 seconds after Campos was shot, but Sheriff Joe Lombardo says that assembling the timeline is difficult because of the human factors involved. Some members of the public have questioned Metro’s expertise in assembling the timeline. The sheriff defends the investigations, and is “offended” by any implication of incompetence.
