(KOH) – University police are investigating a tagging incident on the University of Nevada campus. Swastikas and phrases such as “is this political enough?” were spray-painted on the “graffiti staircase” at the Church Fine Arts Building. The 3-story staircase was designated by the university in 2007 as a place for urban art. Michael Sarich, an associate professor of painting and drawing, called the stairwell
“a place of total freedom”. University president Marc Johnson asked anyone with information to contact campus police at 334-2677.
The university is inviting graffiti artists, students and faculty to join in a repainting of the stairwell on Sunday, October 15 at 2pm.
