Warm Springs Correctional Facility is giving inmates the chance to foster dogs. Recent hurricanes and wildfires have left some dogs displaced. Since the correctional center already has a canine program called Pups Up For Parole, the prison is already equipped with what it needs to shelter affected dogs.
Scott Hilderbrand, Correctional Case Worker at Warm Springs Correctional Center says they have all the resources, all the volunteers, and the training. In the Pups Up For Parole program, specially-trained inmates work with animals from the Humane Society. After the inmates have spent time with those animals, they are sent back to the Humane Society to be adopted out.
