South Tahoe Considering a Polystyrene Ban

South Lake Tahoe is considering a styrofoam ban, similar to what’s been done Portland, Seattle, and New York City. The proposal has been put before the city council. Styrofoam, also know as Polystyrene, is often found during the League to Save Lake Tahoe’s clean ups, and out of 17 trash pick up events held by the non profit, over 2000 styrofoam boxes, cups, and food container were picked up off beaches around the Lake. The south shore council will readdress the ban at future meetings.
