Long Sentence For Attempted Murder

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has announced a conviction on an attempted murder charge, has resulted in a sentence of 55 years in prison. The prosecution also included charges of burglary and felony battery causing substantial bodily harm from a 2015 stabbing in east Reno, which severely injured a Reno man. 54-year-old Charles Flarida of Reno was accused of breaking into the home of a friend of his girlfriend and stabbing the man while he slept. The victim was hospitalized for a month for treatment of numerous life-threatening stab wounds, including three to his back. The sentence ensures the defendant must serve a minimum of 19.5 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
