The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a Reno man. The body was found November 11th along Highway 70 between Vinton and Chilcoot. The body has been identified as 44-year-old Anthony Richins. Preliminary autopsy results indicate Richins possibly died as a result of a heroin overdose, though toxicology results are pending. The Sheriff’s Investigations Unit has determined friends of Richins dumped his body along Highway 70 when Richins “suffered a medical event” and died after injecting heroin while driving from Reno to Loyalton, California.
