(KOH) – The Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team will resume prescribed burns on Monday, weather permitting, after taking a break for Thanksgiving. The prescribed fires are intended to reduce overgrown vegetation, which decreases the severity of wildland fires and reduces the risk of insect and disease outbreaks. They also helps restore vital ecosystem functions and improves forest health and resiliency. The fire teams are warning that smoke may be visible from SR-431 Mt Rose Highway in Incline Village, California 28 near Tahoe City and around Emerald Bay, and off US-50 in South Lake Tahoe.
