Food Bank “Giving Tues” Donations Support School Pantries

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada announced that they are planning to use “Giving Tuesday” donations to support their School Pantry program. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada supports more than 20 school based pantries in the Washoe County School District. Their goal for the Giving Tuesday Campaign is $15,000 which will assist in providing support for five of these pantries for the remainder of the school year. Robert Mitchell Elementary transitioned their Back-Pack Kids program to a school pantry last year and has been pleased at the number of families that they have been able to serve through the program. In Washoe County, 47% of the students qualify for free or reduced school lunch.  People who would like to participate can give online at fbnn.org.
