(KOH) – Some employees of the City of Sparks are looking to “can” Mayor Geno Martini, but he’s just laughing about it. It’s all part of a charity drive thought up by City Manager Steve Driscoll and his wife Carol. They bought one can of food to represent each Sparks employee – 474 in all – to donate to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. They challenged all the employees to “can” the Mayor by bringing cans of food to the Mayor’s Office. The Mayor says Sparks is a city that gives back and he hopes the employees can him right out of his office.
You can get in on the fun by dropping off nonperishable food items through December 14 in bins at Sparks City Hall, the Police Department, Fire Station 1, or the Parks & Rec office at 98 Richards Way.
A Toys for Tots bin will also be at Sparks City Hall for those wishing to donate an unwrapped toy.
