(KOH) – An Elko cardiologist is the latest doctor who’s been arrested for the unlawful distribution of prescription opioids. Attorney General Jeff Sessions says 58 year old Dr. Devendra Patel faces charges of distribution of controlled substances, like oxycodone and hydrocodone, and 3 counts of health care fraud.  Patel is scheduled to appear in federal court in Reno today.  He reportedly faked stress tests and used fraudulent x-rays to convince his patients that they needed the opioids.
