(KOH) – The Carson City Sheriff’s Office held their annual member recognition awards for 2017 this week, honoring some outstanding people that went above and beyond their duties in their roles with the city. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong talks about Deputy Chris Rivera, who’s been on the force for over 15 years, and received the Sworn Employee of the Year and the Purple Heart Award. Rivera fought off and eventually killed a suspect who was attacking him with a knife. Jennifer Graves was recognized as Civilian Employee of the Year, and Diane Phillips was named Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.
