Welding led to a fire that damaged a Sparks apartment building Tuesday. Flames were reported about noon at the complex at 1215 Sullivan Lane. Flames spread from a wall to an attic, and there is water damage from water pipes that were being welded. Four units were involved, and the ten unit complex had to be evacuated. The residents will be placed in temporary housing with the assistance of the Red Cross.
