Two Casino Guards Killed in Las Vegas

(KOH) – As Las Vegas Metro police gear up with higher security for the New Year’s Eve celebration tomorrow, two security guards have been fatally shot at a locals casino west of the strip. Around 6:30 this morning, one male and one female security guard both in their 40’s were investigating a disturbance in a room at Arizona Charlies on Decatur when they were shot. Metro’s Lt. Dan McGrath said the suspect was a Hispanic male who ran to a nearby neighborhood across the street and tried to break into a home with a woman and several children inside. With the police hot on his tail, the suspect shot himself in the head and is not expected to survive. Metro homicide Capt. Robert Plummer says it was an isolated incident and there was no connection at all to terrorism. Arizona Charlies is a couple of miles west of the strip.
