The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a crash last night involving a Lyon County Sheriff’s deputy in a patrol cruiser. According to investigators, the deputy hit a small group of horses on US 50 in Dayton at the intersection with Enterprise. The deputy was taken by ground ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The status of the horses has not been released, but callers to our news partner, KOLO 8, say it appears they have been killed. Westbound lanes of 50 have been reopened at Enterprise Way.
