Reno Police are asking for the community’s assistance in helping themselves, and law enforcement in preventing criminals from getting guns. The Reno Police Department has taken 10 reports of vehicle burglaries so far this year in which guns were stolen from vehicles. In 2016, there were 150 reported incidents of firearms being stolen out of vehicles in the City of Reno. In 2017, Reno Police took 105 reports of firearms being stolen from vehicles. Stolen guns pose a substantial risk to the community and our officer’s safety. A firearm recovered in a shooting on January 13th in Downtown Reno was reported stolen from a vehicle on January 7th. Another good idea is to document the serial numbers on all your firearms and valuables.
