Baily’s Pond in Carson City’s Fuji Park is closed because of what appears be a naturally occurring iron based bacteria, often found in marsh and wetland environments. As a precautionary measure and to ensure the health and safety of park users and wildlife, the pond is temporarily closed for water quality testing. Carson City is actively working with Nevada Department of Environmental Protection and will coordinate with the Nevada Department of Wildlife once the results are available on an action plan if needed. The City hopes to have the pond re-opened as soon as possible.
