A woman has been arrested after an alleged case of shoplifting became a robbery and an attack on a police dog. Washoe County Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Harmon says deputies were called about 7:30PM Monday night to the Scolari’s market in Sun Valley, on a report of a fight. Deputies were told the store manager had gotten into a fight with 31-year-old Amanda Ferran, who was accused of shoplifting. During the incident, Ferran allegedly destroyed some merchandise, then hit a WCSO K9 that was part of the response to the call. The dog bit her on the arm. Because of the violence with the K9, Ferran is charged with Attempt to Kill a Police Animal, plus Robbery, Resisting a Public Officer and Destroying the Property of Another. No bail has been set.
