The Reno Gazette Journal is reporting, Senator Dean Heller has been running a hay business in Smith Valley, without a state business license. The paper says Heller has reported about 169 thousand dollars in income between 2011 and 2016. The RGJ says Heller got a state business license last week, but had argued the multi million dollar Alfalfa spread was a home business that didn’t need to be licensed because it never turned a profit. Heller is reportedly not required to have an agricultural producer license, or county business credentials to grow alfalfa.
