Sparks police have released some details of February 4th’s officer involved shooting by Washoe County Sheriffs deputies. It happened when they responded to a stabbing on Budger Way in Reno. A man and a woman were stabbed. The suspect 20-year-old, Maurice Garcia, retreated into the residence. Then Garcia came through the front door with a weapon. During the incident deputies fired their weapons at Garcia. Garcia sustained life-threatening injuries and remains under medical care. The victims of the stabbing were treated at a local hospital and released. Their names are withheld. At the conclusion of the investigation, the investigative report will be turned over to the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office for review, per the Officer-Involved Shooting Protocol.
