Man Who Threatened Senator Will Spend at Least a Year in Prison

A man who pleaded guilty to extortion, after he was seen on tape leaving a threatening note at Sen. Dean Heller’s office was sentenced Monday. Richard Holley was given 19 to 48 months. Originally charged with extortion, burglary and intimidating a public officer, he made a plea deal in October. The note said “Sen. Heller, I am sick and will die without continued medical care. If I’m going to die because you voted to repeal or replace with a death bill, I will take you with me. If I’m going to die so are you.” Holly was seen on surveillance video arriving at Heller’s office. His son and wife identified Holley for investigators.
