Payouts for Las Vegas Shooting Victims to Begin

Five months after the mass shooting in Las Vegas, funds will be distributed to victims and families. The fund collected $31.4 million from over 90,000 donors. Compensation is based on the severity of injuries and days spent in the hospital: Families of the 58 people who were killed, and the ten people who suffered brain damage or paralysis will receive $275,000. 317 outpatient victims will share $2.5 million or about $7,900 each. People hospitalized up to a week will get $52,500, and it goes up from there– the 14 people hospitalized more than 24 days will receive $200,000. Stephen Paddock’s estate is also under review, his mother is the sole beneficiary. She wants all assets and money to go to the victims.
