The City of Reno has lost a lawsuit over medical leave. A federal jury is ordering the city to pay a police sergeant more that a million dollars. The award for Sergeant Michael Browett could be as much as 2 million when the judge figures in liquidated damages. City Attorney Karl Hall says there will be an appeal. Browett says he faced retaliation for taking sick leave to care for his wife, who’d had complications after giving birth. Browett also ranked number one on the 2015 Lieutenants exam but was passed over.
