Governor Brian Sandoval has signed an Executive Order establishing the Statewide School Safety Task Force. Sandoval says “The safety of our schoolchildren is a matter of unparalleled importance,” and he says it’s imperative that the state devote its resources toward making schools as safe as possible. The Task Force may include the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, members of the Legislature, and local superintendents, Charter School representatives, school board trustees, and teachers and psychologists, and members of law enforcement, parents and anyone else deemed necessary by the Governor. The Executive Order requires that the Task Force deliver an initial report of its activities to the Governor on or before August 1st.
