In Northern Nevada, the NV Energy Foundation’s $30,000 Power of Good Giveaway will provide $10,000 to Reno’s Veterans Guest House, funding is also being provided to the Assistance League Reno-Sparks – $3,000 for the program providing bus passes to veterans who need transportation to doctor’s appointments at the VA Hospital, and purchasing items for veterans who are setting up new apartments. TMCC Veterans Resource Center gets $2,000. That program assists student veterans in their transition from military service to the academic environment. Two of the largest needs that are encountered on a daily basis are the increasing costs of books and supplies as well the cost of transportation to get to and from school.
