Las Vegas City Council member Lois Tarkanian opposed legal marijuana, State Senator Tick Segerblom was its biggest cheerleader. Both are now on the same side when it comes to legal marijuana tax revenues. They say it needs to go to schools. Both advocated pulling the revenue out of the state’s “Rainy day” fund and send it directly to education. Specifically they’re talking about the 10% sales tax on all recreational sales at Nevada dispensaries. He’s advising the Governor to call a special session to make changes, but the Governor’s office says a special session isn’t needed and this can be handled by the next legislature.
