The Reno city council has approved an ordinance banning anyone from standing on a traffic island or median for any length of time. It’s to crack-down on where people can legally ask drivers for money. The city says panhandling, while standing on a traffic island or median is dangerous and the ordinance is for their safety. The ordinance bans climbing, walking, jumping, standing, sitting or laying on certain Reno structures. Those who violate the rule could be charged with a misdemeanor.
