Washoe County investigators say the driver of a stolen vehicle accelerated towards a Reno Police Department officer, striking him, during an incident that resulted in an officer involved shooting late Saturday night. The incident began when officers responded to a burglary in progress call at the Peckham Plaza Mini-Storage located at 1400 E. Peckham Lane. While checking the area , two Reno Police Department officers encountered a stolen Honda Civic parked behind one of the buildings. The vehicle was occupied by a man later identified as 21 year old Nicolas Sedano. As officers established contact, Sedano accelerated his vehicle towards an officer at a high rate of speed, striking the officer, and resulting in the officer involved shooting in which both officers fired.
