First, an emergency kit that includes a-three-day supply of non-perishable food and water—one gallon per person, per day for drinking and hygiene. A battery-powered radio, a flashlight and extra batteries, first aid kit, medications and medical items. If they’re at risk bring important documents and extra cash is always advisable. Talk with household members , and plan what to do in case you are separated, make sure everyone knows where emergency gear is, and don’t forget your pets. If you must evacuate, make arrangements. Keep a phone list of “pet friendly” motels/hotels and animal shelters that are along your evacuation routes. They also recommend putting the Red Cross Emergency “App” on your phone.
