Veterans Groups, Including “Guest House” Get Lift From NV Energy Foundation

Local programs serving veterans got a boost from The NV Energy Foundation, as part of their annual Power of Good Giveaway. They had asked the public to vote on non-profit organizations which support active duty or military veterans. The big winner was the Veterans Guest House, which provides lodging for VA hospital patients and their families. They received a $10-thousand check. Also receiving checks were the Reno-Sparks Assistance League, which provides bus passes for veterans receiving treatment at the hospital as well as helping vets get settled in apartments, and the Truckee Meadows Community College Veterans Resource Center, which supports veteran students transitioning from military service to the academic world.
