Body Cameras Required for Law Enforcement on July 1

(KOH) – By July 1st, all members of law enforcement in Nevada who have contact with the public must wear body cameras. SB176 was signed into law in July of last year. The cameras, typically placed on an officer’s chest, record the audio and video of interaction with the public. Sheriff Ken Furlong says his deputies have welcomed the technology.

Approximately 90 body cameras have been purchased by Carson City Sheriff’s Office. The devices are paid for in part by a surcharge paid by local residents for 911 services.
